When a photo together is hard.

Short notes from Twinning. Not customer stories. They cover a Gotcha Day, a birthday, an anniversary, and why a photo with your dog so rarely includes both of you.

A hard photograph ·

Why is a good photo with your dog so hard?

Getting an ideal photo with your dog is hard because the dog will not pose, someone has to hold the camera, and the two of you are rarely in the same frame. You kneel, and they stand. You stand, and they leave. A treat holds them for a second, then the frame is empty. If you live alone, nobody can press the shutter while you are both in it.

Gotcha Day ·

How do you mark the day your pet came home?

You can mark Gotcha Day, the day you adopted your dog or cat and brought them home, with a matching portrait even when that first afternoon never produced a photo of you together. Many people only have a picture of the pet in a carrier, or of themselves from another day. The celebration does not require the two of you to have stood still beside each other.

Pet birthday ·

How do you make a pet birthday portrait?

A pet birthday portrait can show you and your dog or cat in one party scene without a joint photo and without putting a costume on the animal. Party hats, cake, balloons, and confetti can belong to the look you choose. Your pet does not have to wear any of them in real life.

Anniversary ·

How do you mark an anniversary with your pet?

An anniversary with your dog or cat can be a dressed portrait of one adult and one pet, made from two separate photos rather than a pose you already captured together. It might be another year of ordinary evenings, or a dinner you want to remember. It is not a portrait of two people.

A keepsake ·

Can you still make a portrait after your pet has died?

If your dog or cat has died and you never had a photo of the two of you together, you can still make a matching portrait from separate photos you already have. A clear picture of you, and a clear picture of them from another day, are enough. You do not need a new photo session, and you do not need them to have sat beside you.
